Chapter 221: Capable
Chapter 221: Capable
Tang Xin hadn't eaten much that night, but she wasn't hungry. Perhaps it was the caffeine, but she hadn't been able to sleep that night. She tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. Random thoughts flooded her mind, from her elementary school deskmate, so-and-so, to the handsome guy her roommates had discussed in college. It all came to mind.
When I think of the handsome guy, I can't help but think of someone's face close to me, as if the breath at that moment is still lingering on my neck. My fingers subconsciously touch my thin lower lip, replaying the scene of skin contact over and over again.
Thinking of this, Tang Xin was frightened by her own strange thoughts. She was actually thinking about a man in his house in the middle of the night. She cursed herself in her heart, "Sister, how horny are you?"
But I was really feeling a little thirsty, and since I couldn't sleep anyway, I went to the living room to get some water and check on Zhigang.
Opening the bedroom door and walking towards the living room, Tang Xin's gaze first fell on the little guy's temporary residence. At the same time, the man squatting in front of the nest heard the footsteps and looked back.
A silent understanding slowly soothed her flustered thoughts tonight. It turned out she wasn't the only one worried about the little guy. Watching Jin Taize gently stroke the little guy's fur, she felt a sense of peace in her heart.
Although her heart was filled with a heavy sense of security, Tang Xin still ignored him when she thought of what he had done that night. She just walked to the front of the nest and squatted down to check on Zhigang's condition.
Jin Taize didn't stop moving his hands. "The little guy is fine. He just got up and drank a little water."
Although it seemed like he was talking to himself, Tang Xin knew that he was explaining it to her. She hummed and nodded indifferently.
"What's wrong? Can't sleep?" Jin Taize said casually.
"Ah."
The dim light from the living room floor lamp cast a warm and mysterious halo on his face, and the man raised his eyebrows slightly.
Tang Xin had just answered casually, but the moment she looked up, she met his gaze, which seemed to see through her but not reveal it. She was easily caught by his hidden sense of oppression, and suddenly felt awkward. She turned her eyes away from him and said to herself, "I'm worried about Zhigang, and I'm also so thirsty that I can't sleep, so I'll just pour myself a glass of water."
"I didn't ask you anything, why do you have to explain so much?" Jin Taize curled his lips, stood up and left.
After hearing what he said, Tang Xin closed her eyes tightly. She felt guilty about the nonsense she just said and regretted that she had let him fool her so easily.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Tang Xin waited until his footsteps disappeared into the living room before getting up to pour some water. She was slightly startled when she reached the coffee table. There was a glass of water on it. She reached out and touched it; it was just the right temperature for drinking.
Tang Xin bit her lower lip and looked at the cold white light coming through the open study door.
The next day, Tang Xin took the subway directly to the pet hospital after work, while Jin Taize went home to pick up the little guy and went to the pet hospital first.
It was the evening rush hour at this time, and the subway was packed with people. There were no empty seats at all, so Tang Xin simply found a seat near the door and stood there.
The two young girls standing next to her were chatting enthusiastically about hot topics and gossip. Tang Xin lowered her head to browse her phone, but because they were too close, she could still hear the conversation between the two people inadvertently.
"Aren't you planning to change jobs? Why haven't you made any progress yet? Is it hard to find a job?" one of the girls asked.
"Something went wrong at Shaw Brothers before, and they still owe me a month's salary. I thought the company was going bankrupt," another girl said nonchalantly. "But things seem to be improving since Ms. Shao took over. They've been discussing cooperation with other companies lately."
Although she didn't listen intentionally, the three words "Miss Shao" still successfully attracted her attention, and her fingers sliding on the phone slowed down.
"Really? You're quite capable at such a young age."
The young lady who worked at Shaw Brothers smiled meaningfully. "The problem that the old president couldn't solve when he was in office is solved by a little woman. Do you believe in her work ability or her social skills?"
