Chapter 163 It’s time to leave (9)
When Niv returned to the kitchen, her face looked a little bad. The cook noticed that she was working absent-mindedly, so she asked her, "What's wrong? Niv, what happened?"
Niv looked up at her, stopped washing the vegetables, and forced a smile. "I'm fine, just feeling a little tired."
"If you are tired, just sit down and rest for a while. We are not busy now anyway." The cook said with a smile.
Neve shook her head gently, "No, I'll do a little more work so you can rest earlier."
Time passed slowly. Neve stayed in the kitchen all day. She looked at the setting sun outside the door, and a little uneasiness gradually appeared in her eyes.
After dinner, Neve returned to her room and sat at her desk, fiddling with the feather on her pen with her right hand.
She knew she should side with her uncle, but when she thought of Sidse, she was conflicted.
Since she arrived at Croft Castle, everyone she met had been kind, and Sid's had never done anything to hurt her.
Neve sighed and pressed her face against the cold tabletop.
The moon tonight was like a round disk, and the cold moonlight fell from the balcony onto the carpet in Neve's room. Neve simply blew out the candle, got up, went to the wardrobe, and took out a set of shirt and trousers that were easy to move in.
No matter how much she struggled, she still had to leave Croft Castle and return to her family.
After changing her clothes, Neve sat on the soft bed, quietly waiting for Hans' signal.
At around nine o'clock in the evening, a red star-like firework bloomed in the sky above Croft Castle.
Sids was standing at the bedroom window and noticed something unusual. He immediately went to the balcony and looked at where the fireworks were rising.
He noticed that more and more fires were lighting up in the forest. Sidse immediately put on his coat, opened the bedroom door, and coldly ordered the servants standing outside, "Thieves are attacking Croft Castle. Everyone, get your weapons ready!"
"Yes! Your Highness!!"
Sidse rushed to the room where Neve was. He didn't know why Neve was the first person he thought of. But he was worried that Neve would be in danger like last time.
But when he rushed to the room, Neve was not there.
Sidse came to the balcony and looked at the fire that was getting closer and closer to the castle, his eyes gloomy.
At this time, Neve had already come to the warehouse to wait for Hans, and Hans had just returned to the warehouse.
"Come on, I'll take you out," Hans said in a deep voice, gripping the silver scimitar at his waist. He had already cut the rope holding the castle gate, allowing the vampire hunters outside to come in directly. He had knocked out the gatekeepers, so no one would report the situation for the time being.
It was believed that the vampires hiding in Croft Castle had already discovered the aggressive hunters. Now Hans only needed to take Neve away to complete his mission.
Neve followed Hans out of the warehouse. She looked back hesitantly, and finally made up her mind to follow Hans out.
She could already hear the noise not far away, Hans urged Neve to get on the horse quickly.
The two horses were brought by the servant from Hansto, and they had to leave here as soon as possible.
After Neve got on the horse, Hans also got on another horse.
"Neve, are you really leaving?" Sidse's voice suddenly sounded behind him.
Neve turned her head and looked at Sidse in surprise under the moonlight. There was an emotion in his beautiful light blue eyes that Neve could not understand.
"It's a vampire, Neve! Go!" Hans immediately dismounted, slapped the horse's butt where Neve was sitting, then drew the scimitar from his waist and rushed towards Sidse.
"No! Uncle! He won't hurt us!" Neve was about to go down to stop him, but unexpectedly the horse started running. Her voice became farther and farther away, so she had to turn back to control the direction of the horse.
Hans didn't miss what Neve said, but he didn't believe that vampires would not harm humans.
"Come on!" Hans shouted, waving the scimitar in his hand.
Sidse just dodged his attack with quick reaction. He wanted to chase Neve, but Hans kept blocking him.
Sidse frowned, his handsome face showing a hint of impatience, "Human, get out of here!"
"It's you who should get out of here! Vampire!" Hans continued to attack. He would not let this vampire chase Neve.
More and more vampire hunters came to Sidse's vicinity. He looked at them with indifference, and gradually felt annoyed. He had finally found an interesting human, so how could he let her go so easily?
These vampire hunters are really annoying. They are always like flies, constantly smelling the scent of vampires to find them.
On the other side, Neve rode her horse and gradually came to the gate of the castle. She kept looking back, still thinking about Sidse's eyes.
She had never seen Sidse's eyes look like that before, and there seemed to be a hint of panic in them.
Neve rode through the gate, turned her horse's head and looked inside the castle.
There were flames everywhere and people shouting.
She was debating whether she should just leave, but she saw a familiar face among the hunters rushing over.
"Brother Zephir!" Neve called out subconsciously.
When Zephir heard the voice, he stopped and looked behind him.
"Neve!" Zephir walked quickly towards Neve, shouting in surprise.
Neve dismounted swiftly and hugged Zephir who came running over.
The brother and sister hadn't seen each other for a long time, but Neve could still find Zephir in the crowd at a glance.
"You'd better leave here quickly. It's very dangerous here." Zephir let go of Neve and said with a worried look on his face.
Neve pursed her lips and asked Zephir, "Brother, what is your plan this time?"
"The first thing is to rescue you, and then destroy the vampire's lair." Zephir told the plan. He looked at the place where the battle was taking place and urged Neve to leave quickly.
"But not everyone in Croft Castle is bad." Neve said this blankly.
Zephir was surprised that Neve would say such a thing. "Are you stupid? Regardless of whether the people in Croft Castle are bad or not, the vampires should be punished accordingly."
"But they didn't do anything wrong..." Neve felt her head was becoming very confused. She felt that she shouldn't say that, but she couldn't control her mouth and said it.
Zefiri thought Neve was confused. He grabbed Neve's arm and pulled her to the horse. "The most important thing for you now is to get away from here. Our father is waiting for you to return safely at the foot of the mountain!"
Neve got on the horse, her hands subconsciously tightened on the reins, and she controlled the horse to run down the mountain.
In her ears was the sound of the whistling wind and the roar of people.
In a trance, she seemed to hear Sidse calling her name.
At the foot of the mountain, when Ed saw Neve coming on horseback, he called out Neve's name, "Neve!"
Neve came to her senses, she reined in her horse, dismounted and came to her father, "Father!"
Neve looked at the people holding torches around Ed, pursed her lips, and said to Ed, "Father, long time no see."
Ed patted her shoulder happily, "It must be scary to be captured by a vampire, Neve. It's okay now. You're safe."
Neve opened her mouth, wanting to tell Ed that she wasn't very scared. But if she told Ed that, he probably wouldn't believe her.
Neve chose to remain silent, as she was somewhat worried about Sidse's safety.
This feeling of worry filled her heart and her body.
She began to recall every moment she spent with Sidse. Sidse would only scare her with words. He had said before that he would break her pride, but he never did.
They would chat at night about many things. When Neve was too sleepy to sleep, she could still feel Sidse's hand gently caressing her eyebrows before leaving.
Originally, she didn't have to work at Croft Castle, but Neve didn't want to be idle, so she asked Sids to arrange for her to do something.
The more Neve thought about it, she glanced sideways at Ed, and when she saw Ed talking to someone else, she walked to the horse without hesitation and got on it.
"Father, I'm going to find someone. You don't have to worry about me! I will be back!" Neve said hurriedly, and rode away quickly on horseback.
Ed didn't understand who Neve was looking for, so he wanted someone to chase Neve. But Neve quickly disappeared into the woods, and Ed couldn't help but sigh.
Neve rushed towards the gate of Croft Castle regardless of anything, and she was completely unaware even when a small branch scratched her face.
She hoped in her heart that at least, at least Sids could still survive.
When Neve arrived at Croft Castle, she saw Sidse lying on the ground. She ran over desperately and stopped the dagger in the hunter's hand.
With a swish, her arm was cut by the blade.
Everyone present was shocked by Neve's actions.
Neve held the seriously injured Sidse in her arms, her voice trembling, "Please wait! Please wait! He's not a bad guy!"
The blood from Neve's arm flowed onto Sidse's face. He looked up at the panicked Neve, wondering why she came back.
"Wait, let me persuade her. She has been blinded by the vampire. And she is Ed's daughter. You guys go and clean up the vampires nearby. Anyway, this vampire can't move. I will kill him later." At this time, Hans walked out of the crowd and said in a deep voice.
The people around looked at each other in confusion. Hans was senior enough and had a certain say, so the crowd gradually dispersed.
Hans squatted down beside Neve, with blood still on his face. "Neve, be obedient. This is not something you should interfere in."
Sids did not kill him, otherwise Hans would not be here to persuade Neve.
"Uncle, Sidse didn't..." Neve said, shaking her head.
"I know, but he is a vampire, and vampires are the enemy of humans." Hans raised his hand and touched the top of Neve's head.
"At least, let him live." Neve choked and said, her palm pressed against Sidse's face, ignoring the stinging pain from the wound on her arm.
Hans was silent. He took out a silver needle as long as his index finger from his breast pocket. He stared into Neve's eyes and said, "Tell me, child. Are you in love with a vampire?"
Tears glistened in the corners of Neve's eyes. She lowered her head and looked at the dying Sidse. Finally, she admitted that she had fallen in love with Sidse, "Yes, uncle."
Sidse, who was in her arms, widened his eyes slightly when he heard Neve's words.
"You shouldn't fall in love with a vampire." Hans closed his eyes and inserted the silver needle in his hand into Sidse's heart.
Neve tried to stop Hans, but she was too late.
