Chapter 213 Little Helper
Chapter 213 Little Helper
"Would you like something to drink?" Chi Mu moved quickly and came out of the room soon.
He changed into a very simple home suit, with a slightly open neckline that reached below the collarbone. The loose and soft fabric hung on his body, revealing the outline of his muscles as he moved. The smooth and straight pants made his figure look even taller and more upright.
He put his clothes in order and said as he walked, "There should be coffee and soda at home."
"Is there any water? I'd rather drink some water." Chen Qian looked up and replied.
"Here, this is for you." Chi Mu brought two bottles of water from the kitchen, opened one and placed it in front of Chen Qian.
They looked at each other speechlessly.
For no reason, Chen Qian's gaze fell on the place he had just confirmed with his own hands. There was only sweat hair on the fair skin, nothing else.
He tried to suppress his curiosity, but eventually couldn't hold it back and asked tentatively, "Where's your ring?"
"Ring..." Chi Mu looked up, a light flashing in his eyes. He looked back at his hand and quickly replied, "Before leaving, I took it off and left it at home for fear of losing it. I've been staying in the hospital since I came back, and haven't had time to put it back on yet."
After saying that, he looked at Chen Qian again, his eyes sparkling, which was surprisingly a bit like the golden retriever he had seen before, who took credit to his owner after picking up a branch.
"Is that so..." Chen Qian's tone suddenly became cold.
He lowered his eyes and stared at the words on the water bottle in his hand, completely unaware that Chi Mu looked expectant of him to say something else.
Just when the two fell into silence again, Chen Qian received a call from Zhong Yi.
The phone call came suddenly and sounded particularly loud in the quiet space, which startled Chen Qian.
But at the same time, he was also sincerely grateful to Zhong Yi for his compassionate heart and for saving him from embarrassment.
"I'll take a call." He shook his phone to signal Chi Mu. The phone screen lit up and Zhong Yi's name was clearly visible on the caller ID.
Chi Mu's eyes were deep and he frowned slightly. His disturbed mood suddenly became a little lonely.
But he still pretended to be calm and said, "Yeah."
Chen Qian answered the phone and went to the balcony.
"Hello, Zhong Yi. Are you done over there?" Chen Qian spoke hurriedly as soon as the phone was connected.
"Yes, and besides, there are events I need to attend." Zhong Yi said concisely.
"Okay, then should I go find you now, or go home directly?" Chen Qian asked without time to think.
"Let's go back."
"OK, see you at home then."
Chen Qian put away his phone and returned to the sofa.
During his absence, Chi Mu seemed to have not changed his movements. He was still sitting in the distance, even his hand posture was exactly the same.
His eyes were calm as he stared at Chen Qian, "How is it, have they dealt with everything?"
"Well, everything should be over over there." Chen Qian said calmly, "So I think I should go back too."
"Now? So soon?" Chi Mu was a little surprised, and then he became visibly frustrated. He frowned and said, "Are you in a hurry to go back? I thought we could have dinner together, so I ordered the ingredients and they're on the way."
"Ingredients? Are you going to cook?" Chen Qian was stunned for a moment, then said awkwardly: "But... it might not be convenient today, how about next time?"
He pursed his lips, suppressing the gluttony aroused by Chi Mu's words.
Chi Mu's cooking skills are no less than that of Sun Cheng, who practices every day under the gourmet Yu Wangxi.
God knows how much Chen Qian missed and envied the happy times when she could taste Chi Mu's cooking every day when she was in Denmark and was wandering around eating Chinese food with a changed taste.
But, today is different from the past.
He shook his head slightly, intending to decline politely.
"I remember you loved braised spareribs and shrimp with asparagus. Do you still like them?"
"I like it." Chen Qian's mouth was faster than his brain, and he responded immediately.
After saying that, he secretly scolded himself in his heart for being like Yu Wangxi, and not having enough self-control when it came to food.
Hearing Chen Qian's answer, a hint of cunning flashed across Chi Mu's eyes.
He was smiling and looking calm, like a hunter who had thrown out bait to attract prey and was silently waiting for the trap to be triggered.
"That's great. I was worried that you might have changed your taste. How about adding a loofah and razor clam soup?" Chi Mu pressed on.
Chen Qian was unable to answer for a moment because he was involuntarily dazzled by that smile.
In fact, ever since they left Chi's house, Chen Qian always felt that Chi Mu was surrounded by a sense of depression whenever he interacted with him.
At first he didn't notice it very much, he just felt that Chi Mu was a little different from before, but after spending more time together, this idea became more and more obvious.
Whether they were in the same ward together, when he was reading beside her, or when the two of them were talking, she could clearly feel a sense of inexplicable worry in her heart.
Even when he smiled occasionally, there was not much smile in his eyes, just cold.
But the smile he showed now somehow got rid of that depression, and his whole person became brighter.
It was as if Chen Qian only realized at this moment that the Chi Mu he knew always had a unique sense of ease and confidence around him.
It was precisely this kind of confident atmosphere that made Chi Mu like a black hole to him, making it impossible for him to look away easily. He kept staring at him from beginning to end.
However, I probably won't see Chi Mu, who is full of vigor and vitality, more often than not.
Finally one day, we will be completely separated as we expected.
Chi Mu didn't understand Chen Qian's sudden change, but felt uneasy when he was stared at by his eyes filled with regret.
He touched his face and asked curiously, "Why are you looking at me like that? Don't you like this soup? It's okay, I can make something else..."
"I don't dislike it, I like it very much." Chen Qian smiled with relief, "Let's make this, let's eat together."
"Okay." Chi Mu didn't understand what was going on and replied with a curled lip.
Ten minutes later, the ingredients ordered by Chi Mu were delivered to the door.
When he heard the doorbell, Chen Qian was very active. He jumped up from the sofa, muttering "I'm coming, I'm coming" and ran to the entrance in two or three steps.
After thanking him repeatedly, Chen Qian exchanged the unusually full shopping bag with the delivery boy.
"Let me help you!" Chen Qian rushed into the kitchen carrying a bag.
Chi Mu came in before him and was busy putting on an apron.
The apron was hung around his neck. He fumbled behind his back with his backhand. When he saw Chen Qian coming in, he quickly loosened the strap that was hooked on one corner.
He smiled and said in a lazy and low voice, "Then help me tie my apron first, my little helper."
His words were so ambiguous that Chen Qian couldn't help but pause for a moment.
"Okay, okay." Chen Qian put down the bag in his hand and hurried forward to help.
Two thin cloth straps were tied into a knot in Chen Qian's hands. He lowered his head, and there was no longer the smell of the hospital in his nostrils, nor was it the smell of sandalwood.
Instead, it was the faint scent of laundry detergent mixed with the scent of Chi Mu.
"Okay, is it too loose?" As he said that, Chen Qian put his fingers between the cloth belt and the wood and pulled it gently.
Chi Mu was a little tickled by his actions, so he raised his hand and held the fingers that were pulling the tape, "No, I think it's just right."
"That's fine. I'll start washing the vegetables." Chen Qian quickly pulled his hand back and walked towards the sink holding the vegetables as if nothing had happened.
The water was flowing non-stop, Chen Qian was concentrating on the vegetable leaves in his hand, while Chi Mu was processing other things with a knife beside him.
Their hands moved in an orderly and unhurried manner. The tacit understanding they had accumulated during their past life together was fully revealed in this moment.
"Is the soup almost done? How about I chop some celery for you?"
Chen Qian brought the freshly prepared dishes to the table, then returned and moved closer to Chi Mu, sticking his head out to look at the bubbling soup.
