Chapter 804. Getting on the Heavenly Fate rankings
Chapter 804. Getting on the Heavenly Fate rankings
The members of the academic faction were going about their normal business as usual.
Some were on missions. Some were in their villas, and others were chilling in the academic faction building. There were also some who were in secret realms and principle fragment towers in the academy at the moment.
Currently, several individuals were seated across a table in a lounge in the academic faction building. They were just having casual conversations. All of them were on the Heavenly Fate rankings. News about what Kailen Darkhaven had done in front of the Royal Faction building had spread throughout the academy. Even they were discussing it.
"Vergio... What do you think of Kailen Darkhaven?" a beautiful elf, named Astoria, asked a handsome human in the group.
He was ranked 200 on the Heavenly Fate rankings. He had 29,000 contribution points.
The lady who just asked the question was ranked slightly above him. She was ranked 199 on the Heavenly Fate rankings, with 29,005 contribution points.
Vergio replied, "He’s dangerous. And he will eventually climb the Heavenly Fate rankings. It’s only a matter of time."
Astoria nodded.
"My thoughts as well," another in the group said. "How long do you think it will take for him to climb the Heavenly Fate rankings?"
"About five years if he completes missions with very high stakes," Astoria said.
Everyone nodded. They considered this short time frame extremely fast. It was because Kailen Darkhaven had proven himself to be someone who could not be viewed with common sense.
He was unpredictable and dangerous. Someone like that could complete missions that could get others easily.
Getting on the Heavenly Fate Rankings of the academic faction was not a direct measure of combat strength, but one’s efficiency in completing missions.
Kailen Darkhaven had strength and the mind of a survivalist.
After what he had pulled off in front of the royal faction building, several who did not pay attention to his nature had come to a realization. Kailen Darkhaven had a mind that mapped out events and scenarios like chess pieces. He could use anything to his advantage when crossed.
Someone like that would always find a solution to a problem. This meant that completing missions that would have a very high risk of death and, of course, extremely high contribution points, would not be a problem for him. It was safe to say that the five-year period they just estimated he would take to get on the Heavenly Fate rankings was not an overestimation of his abilities.
Or so they thought.
Suddenly, several holographic screens appeared before everyone.
The rankings on the Heavenly Fate Rankings glitched.
A name that was not below or above anyone on the Heavenly Fate rankings appeared on the Heavenly Fate rankings.
Everyone in the lounge was shocked. They could not believe their eyes.
Kailen Darkhaven?
How?
Were they not estimating that he would take five years to get on the rankings?
What sort of mission did he take on?
Did he succeed in killing an emperor of another empire or something?
How... how was this even possible?
Everyone stared at their screens in shock, especially Astoria and Vergio.
Kailen Darkhaven had just replaced Astoria with 30,000 contribution points.
He had claimed rank 199 of the Heavenly Fate rankings, pushing Astoria to 200 and Vergio to 201.
"Impossible," Vergio suddenly blurted out.
These were the thoughts everyone was having at the moment.
But the truth was right before them, whether they wanted to accept it or not.
The place was completely silent for a while.
Everyone took a deep breath and calmed down, eventually accepting the truth before them.
"It seems we underestimated this fellow. Getting on the (100-200) range on the Heavenly Fate rankings as a rank 4 novice stage Transcendent. What kind of monster has joined the academy?" Vergio said.
"He’s indeed abnormal," the others nodded.
"But, what sort of mission did he complete?" they wondered.
****
The academy was currently in an uproar. Similar reactions to what had just occurred between Vergio and company were occurring among Academic Faction members and even Heavenly Fate rankers across the academy.
Even those from the royal faction who eventually received the news were shocked to their core.
This Kailen Darkhaven was indeed abnormal.
Ever since he arrived in the academy, he had been causing one uproar after another.
First he angered and humiliated the crown prince. Then he slaughtered Damien Lee. After that he used his backing to get rid of Xesla Lee and the assassins she sent after him for killing her brother. He brought her head to the royal faction entrance, then left it floating there to send a message to the whole academy that he was not some small fry anyone could just offend and not pay the price for offending him.
As if that was not enough, right after that, he suddenly appears on the Heavenly Fate rankings, claiming rank 199 in a fell swoop, when he was only at the rank 4 novice stage Transcendent level.
With 30,000 Contribution points.
How many missions had he even taken on since he arrived in the academy?
It could not be more than two.
And what sort of mission did he complete this time?
How the hell was this possible?
This was when a rumor started to spread through the academy.
One of those lethal missions with unknown risks had disappeared from the mission board.
It was an Intel gathering mission at an outpost of the empire.
It could not be a coincidence, right?
Could it be that Kailen Darkhaven had completed a lethal mission? A mission with an unknown risk.
A death sentence mission.
But.. the contribution points allocated to it was 15,000. Had he overcompleted the mission and gotten himself 30,000 contribution points? Double of the contribution points required for completing the mission?
Something like that could happen, but in rare cases. And that barely happened with lethal missions.
What commonly happened with lethal missions was death.
Not only had he completed a lethal mission, he even overcompleted it?
Was it really him? Or was it a coincidence?
Several doubted. However, some students suddenly said that they saw Kailen Darkhaven travelling in space in the direction of that outpost when they were returning to the academy after completing a mission in the Andromis Imperium Empire.
This made everyone realize that Kailen Darkhaven had completed that lethal Intel mission.
Naturally, no one dared to dig for details from the academy Intel agency even though they were curious about how he had completed the mission. Not even the crown prince or some high rankers on the Royal Fate rankers and the Heavenly Fate rankers could do that.
The academy kept the details of Intel missions strictly confidential.
Also, anyone who targeted the one who completed an Intel mission would face the consequences from the academy Intel Agency / Association, regardless of faction.
No one doubted at this point though; Kailen Darkhaven would become a major player in the Venzula Empire sooner or later, if he did not meet any unfortunate circumstance. His feats were too abnormal.
