Chapter 138: Appetizer First
Chapter 138: Appetizer First
One small move and I felt a strong arm wrapped around my waist.
I didn’t know how many times we did it until exhaustion caught up to me. I fell asleep and had just woken up. My body felt a bit sore, but it wasn’t anything unbearable.
When I looked over my shoulder, I found Rion’s face an inch away, his eyes closed and his breathing calm.
I looked around without rising from the bed to see if there were any clocks in his room because I didn’t know what time it was. Unfortunately, there was none. But from the windows, there was no light from the stone outside, which made me realize it was already nighttime.
I was suddenly worried. Usually Rion was busy during the day, but he was with me the whole day.
Wouldn’t his council be looking for him? Or Diaval and Ares? I could be keeping him from his duties.
I bit my lower lip as I stared at Rion’s calm face. His silver hair was a bit disheveled, but it didn’t make him any less handsome. He looked peaceful while he slept, maybe even a bit innocent with the absence of his mischievous grin and menacing eyes.
I was torn between wanting to wake him up or just stare at him while he slept. It was the first time I could see him this way, and I just didn’t want to leave his side.
I stifled a smile because my thoughts began to stray far. For damn’s sake, we did it many times already!
But it felt like I couldn’t get enough of him. Was this what being mates was like? Being so hungry for each other? His scent was so pleasant to me that I wanted it all over me all day.
"Are you having fun staring at me?"
I jolted when Rion suddenly spoke with his eyes still closed.
"You are... awake?"
He opened his eyes and I was greeted by a pair of crimson orbs. They immediately found my gaze, looking at me adoringly.
"I didn’t sleep."
I moved to face him and his arm loosened, but he didn’t remove it from my waist.
"So you were just pretending?"
"Uh-huh."
"Why?"
"Because I don’t want to leave the bed yet. Also, you kept staring." His lips curled. "If you want to stare more, go ahead."
My cheeks heated. I was about to get up, but he pulled me to his chest, his arm like steel around my waist. He wasn’t letting me go.
"Rion, wouldn’t your council look for you? You have duties to fulfill, may I remind you."
He raised a brow at me. "I am the Alpha. I work when I want to."
"We were just in your room the whole day," I reminded him.
"So what? People will understand, Vien. I just got myself a mate. Once everyone knows that their Alpha was granted a fated mate by the Moon Goddess, they all will be pleased."
I smiled, but there was apprehension at the back of my mind. I really hoped people in the Undercity would welcome me as their Alpha’s mate.
"Once the marking ceremony is done, you will be my Luna."
My eyes widened. "L-Luna?"
"Yes."
When he saw the expression on my face, he asked, "Why? Don’t you want to rule the Undercity with me? Who else would I take as my Luna if not my mate?"
I was at a loss for words. I looked away.
Of course I’d be happy to stand beside him and share his burdens. But maybe it was still all new to me, so I didn’t think too far about what my position would be in the Undercity.
I felt him kiss my temple sweetly.
"It’s okay if you’re not ready for the responsibility. I am just saying that the Luna’s position rightfully belongs to you now. But if you don’t want it... for now... well, then we can take it slow."
I met his gaze and smiled. "Any woman would be honored to be your mate and Luna, but I just think I am not ready for it yet. I have so many things going on right now. But I don’t want you to think that I don’t want it, or that I don’t want to be associated with you in that way. It’s a me problem, alright?"
"You couldn’t be thinking that you don’t qualify?" His eyes narrowed with a dangerous glint, but now it didn’t make me feel even an ounce of fear.
"Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking," I admitted. "But it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t improve myself to be suitable to stand beside you."
His eyes softened, but there was a bit of annoyance in them, clearly not pleased with what I said.
"You are perfect the way you are, Vivien. You shouldn’t think that you need anything to prove or that you need to change anything about yourself. If one makes you feel otherwise, I won’t let them off the hook," he said seriously.
I chuckled, running my fingers along his jaw. His eyes softened more at my touch, his lips parting a bit.
"Don’t be too serious. We should get up and have dinner. I have a feeling that anytime soon your Betas will come knocking on your door for disappearing the whole day."
He caught my hand on his jaw and started kissing my palm. He didn’t seem to have heard what I just said.
"Everything can wait. Let me have an appetizer first."
I almost screamed when he suddenly flipped me on the bed, without the quilt covering our naked bodies.
"Hold onto the headboard," he commanded, his arm on my waist as he guided me into the position he wanted.
My back was to him with my knees on the bed and my hands on the headboard. One flick of his finger on my sex and I was dripping. The heat ran from my cheeks to my neck, down to my chest.
He kissed my shoulder blades while his hands were on my chest, and his manhood buried deep inside me.
