Chapter 451 - 375: Black Wind of the Abyssal Sect

Chapter 451 - 375: Black Wind of the Abyssal Sect

「The next day, at the crack of dawn.」

The Black Water River in the southern Black Stone Territory shimmered with sparkling light. Dew on the riverbanks evaporated under the rising sun, creating a thin layer of mist.

Sun, the Golden Dragon, had his wings tucked in, lying prone on the river beach. His massive body resembled a rolling golden hill.

He would occasionally snort, exhaling two streams of scorching, sulfur-scented air.

Kado, the Hill Giant, had found a millstone-sized green rock by the river. He sat on an even larger boulder, intently sharpening his brand-new javelin.

"CLANG... SHHH..."

The metal spearhead scraped against the coarse green rock, producing a rhythmic, grating sound.

The javelin was a full eight meters long. Its shaft was made of ironwood that Raylo had specially selected, its dark brown grain as hard as iron. Only the very tip was fitted with a barbed and grooved Refined Iron spearhead.

This was a compromise.

To open up the market for Hill Giants, the Black Stone Territory’s consumption of Refined Iron had been growing, so Raylo had to consider the cost.

Weapons forged from pure Refined Iron were far too costly to produce. This hybrid wood-and-iron design maintained lethality while appropriately easing the pressure on their material supply.

Time trickled by as they waited. The sun rose higher, dispelling the last wisp of mist from the river’s surface.

"Human patience is a strange virtue sometimes."

Sun, the Golden Dragon, suddenly spoke. His voice was like a great bell, echoing through the empty river valley.

"Why are we waiting here for a lost rat?"

"This kind of job is better suited for these three little ones."

Raylo patted the neck of Baofeng beside him, his gaze still fixed on the distance.

From behind Baofeng’s head, three small heads peeked out, looking at Sun, their "big brother."

"This is the only route from the South to the Black Stone Territory. The so-called Prophet of the Abyssal Sect will definitely pass through here on his way to the Black Stone Mountain Range."

Sun fell silent, merely flicking his tail impatiently against the ground, smashing a shallow crater into it.

The wait continued until nearly noon.

"There’s fighting."

Kado stopped his sharpening and abruptly raised his head, his gaze fixed on the South.

"Far away, but loud."

At almost the same moment, Raylo felt it too.

A dissonant fluctuation of Magic Power rippled through the air.

It seemed to be a clash of some kind of power. Even from a great distance, it caused the elements in the area to grow restless.

"They’re here."

Raylo’s eyes narrowed.

He leaped onto Baofeng’s saddle. Baofeng let out a shrill cry like an eagle, and with a powerful flap of his wings, shot up into the air like a yellowish-brown bolt of lightning, heading southwest.

"Keep up!"

Sun’s enormous body soared into the air. The currents from his wings sent gravel on the river beach flying in all directions.

Kado slid his javelin into the sheath on his back, shouldered his wolf fang club, and took great strides, charging directly into the Black Water River.

The black water immediately submerged him to his waist, but he paid it no mind. His huge body kicked up towering waves as he waded across with great strides.

This was a shallow section of the Black Water River. It was less than ten meters at its deepest point and over a hundred meters wide. Kado crossed it with ease.

For Baofeng and Sun, a distance of five kilometers was a matter of a few breaths.

As Raylo flew over a stretch of hills, the scene before him made his pupils contract.

A battlefield nearly a kilometer across was split into a world of black and white by two completely different Domain Powers.

At the center of the battlefield, a burly man in silver armor rode on the back of a Frost Giant Bear the size of a mammoth.

The Giant Bear was covered in snow-white fur, and every breath it took expelled a visible cloud of cold air.

With him at its center, a Frost Domain spanning a kilometer was unfolding.

Endless frigid winds swirled with ice crystals and snowflakes, forming a terrifying ice storm.

The ground was already covered in a thick layer of ice, with sharp Ice Cones constantly stabbing up from below. The air was so cold it felt as if it would solidify.

It was Elvin, titled "Frosty Winter"—a true Domain Level Powerhouse.

And opposite him was a Mage from the Abyssal Sect.

His black magic robe whipped loudly in the fierce winds.

An ink-black tornado raged around him. Within his Domain, sand and stones flew, a Black Wind howled, and the air was filled with a cringe-inducing grinding noise and faint wails.

Wherever the Black Wind passed, rocks and plants alike were visibly corroded and weathered away.

The Frost Domain and the Black Wind Domain clashed madly.

The moment the ice crystals touched the Black Wind, they were crushed and corroded. In turn, the biting chill slowed the Black Wind’s rotation. Layers of grayish-black frost condensed on the tornado’s outer edge, only to be thrown off by an even more violent force.

"BOOM!"

Elvin urged the Giant Bear beneath him to lunge forward.

The Frost Giant Bear roared, ice-blue claws materializing on its two massive paws as it swiped viciously at the black vortex.

The Mage within the Black Wind let out a sharp shriek. His Black Wind Domain contracted violently before suddenly exploding outward, creating a powerful shockwave that brutally forced the Frost Giant Bear back several steps.

"Elvin! Do you really intend to make an enemy of the great Abyssal Sect!?"

The Mage’s voice was shrill and hoarse, sounding particularly jarring amidst the howling storm.

"Know this, the Abyssal Sect always gets its revenge!"

"Shut up, you scum!"

Elvin’s voice was like cold iron.

"You rats from the gutter! Since you dared to come to my Thunder Dragon Duchy and play your tricks, you should be prepared to face the Duke’s iron-blooded methods!"

He had clearly been hunting this Mage for a long time; the two had clashed more than once.
