Chapter 012 Bodyguard
"What are you doing here?" Su Ruowei asked in surprise.
"Mr. Su, do you know him?" Zhang Ting asked softly.
"Hmm." Su Ruowei responded softly, then lowered her head and closed her eyes tightly. Although Lin Fan's appearance shocked her, she didn't expect him to save her in the face of two fierce-looking bodyguards.
Seeing Su Ruowei's reaction, Zhang Ting also closed her eyes tightly in fright.
"What are you standing there for? Hit him!" Shi Jian shouted angrily.
The two bodyguards, who were staring blankly at Su Ruowei's pretty face, immediately came to their senses, but just as they were about to turn around and make a move, they were knocked to the ground by Lin Fan.
Shi Jian panicked when he saw the two bodyguards fall to the ground. In his shock, Lin Fan's fist came flying towards his fleshy face.
"Ah!" With a cry of pain, Shi Jian fainted.
"It's alright now," Lin Fan said softly.
Su Ruowei slowly raised her head, opened her tightly closed eyes, and saw that Lin Fan was unharmed, and then saw the three people lying on the ground.
"How... how did you do that?" Su Ruowei asked in confusion.
"They're weak and easily defeated," Lin Fan said, quickly changing the subject. "By the way, what are you guys doing here?"
Su Ruowei was wondering if Lin Fan was following her when Lin Fan preemptively made her think it was just a coincidence.
“We are,” Su Ruowei said hesitantly.
"I came with President Su to discuss business, but I never expected that Shi Jian would be this kind of person!" Zhang Ting's fear vanished, leaving only anger.
"Hmm." Su Ruowei frowned and said, "Let's leave here quickly, or things will get complicated if they wake up."
"Okay, where are you going?"
After asking, Lin Fan glanced at Shi Jian on the ground. Although he had suppressed his spiritual energy in his dantian, this punch was enough to keep him asleep for half a day.
"Let's go back to the company," Su Ruowei said, and the three of them left the coffee shop.
Not far along, Zhang Ting said thoughtfully, "President Su, have you forgotten that there's something you need to do in the city?" She then winked at Lin Fan.
"Something?" Su Ruowei began to think, then asked in confusion after a moment, "I don't remember anything."
Zhang Ting looked helpless, her face flushed, and said, "Let me be frank with you, this handsome guy is looking at you with such doting eyes, he must have fallen for you!"
Lin Fan smiled awkwardly. He had been wondering why Zhang Ting had been giving him a meaningful look, and now he realized what it meant.
"He's my husband," Su Ruowei said helplessly. "Don't you already know I'm married?"
Zhang Ting looked at Lin Fan awkwardly. She knew that Su Ruowei was already married, but wasn't everyone saying that President Su's husband was a good-for-nothing? How come he didn't seem like a good-for-nothing at all today?
Oh no, oh no, I've walked right into their trap.
"Yes, I'm sorry, brother-in-law, I... I didn't mean that." Zhang Ting quickly bowed to Lin Fan and apologized.
"You want to be Ruowei's matchmaker? Young lady, I advise you to give up that idea."
Lin Fan glanced at Zhang Ting, a cold glint in his eyes.
"I, I didn't mean to. You guys chat, I'm going back to the company to work!" Zhang Ting said, and then ran off and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Lin Fan had only meant to scare Zhang Ting, but he hadn't expected her to react so strongly. However, when Su Ruowei revealed his identity, Lin Fan felt inexplicably happy, as if he had been vindicated.
"Where to now?" Lin Fan asked gently.
"Back at the company, there's still so much work to do," Su Ruowei replied.
The two walked towards the bus stop without exchanging any more words until Su Ruowei's eyes were drawn to a display case.
Behind the glass wall was an exquisite evening gown, which still shone brightly even on the mannequin.
Looking at her reflection in the glass, Su Ruowei imagined herself wearing the dress. The moment the reflection and the dress overlapped, a perfect picture was drawn. Overjoyed, Su Ruowei looked down at the price tag, and the price of 3 yuan immediately brought her back to reality from her dream.
"Oh well, never mind." Su Ruowei shook her head and continued walking.
Although Su Ruowei is the eldest granddaughter of the Su family, she doesn't have the money to buy such expensive clothes. It's not that the Su family is poor, but that Su Ruowei is poor. She receives a salary from the Su family, which is only 8000 a month, including commissions. It's all her hard-earned money.
"Ruowei, do you want it?" Lin Fan asked, stopping in front of the glass wall.
Su Ruowei stopped and hesitated for a moment before slowly saying, "It doesn't suit me. I don't like clothes like this."
"Really?"
"Mmm." Su Ruowei bit her lower lip and continued, "Let's go, I'll take you to see my company today."
"A company? Great! I was just looking for a job," Lin Fan said with a smile, quickening his pace to catch up with Su Ruowei.
The two continued walking, and Su Ruowei looked up and asked, "Why did you suddenly decide to look for a job?"
"I can't just sit around doing nothing," Lin Fan smiled and continued, "I'll earn some money and buy you that evening gown."
Su Ruowei neither confirmed nor denied, but simply asked, "What kind of job do you want to do?"
"Be a bodyguard? I've trained before, and I just realized my skills haven't deteriorated," Lin Fan replied.
"A bodyguard?" Su Ruowei pouted and said, "Have you decided where to go?"
"How about I work at your company? I'll be your bodyguard."
"I don't really need bodyguards, and besides, I don't have the money to hire you."
Lin Fan stopped and looked at Su Ruowei gently, saying, "Are you sure? Today seems quite dangerous."
Su Ruowei sighed, glanced back at the coffee shop that was no longer in sight, and said, "Alright, name your price."
"It's free," Lin Fan said with a smile.
"That won't do. You definitely won't work properly if I don't pay you." Su Ruowei thought for a moment and then said, "I'll give you 2500. That's all I can give you."
"Thank you very much, Mr. Su. I guarantee I'll do an excellent job!"
Lin Fan followed Su Ruowei to the company. Under Su Ruowei's introduction, everyone in the company got to know this son-in-law who had moved in with his wife's family. However, unlike at the Su family, no one made any sarcastic remarks about Lin Fan.
Su Ruowei's company only has four or five people. Perhaps because they all come from poor families, they work extremely hard, but they are also very polite and treat Lin Fan with courtesy.
When Su Ruowei got off work that evening, she didn't take the bus for the first time. Lin Fan had driven—or rather, ridden—to the company, so Su Ruowei asked Lin Fan to give her a ride home.
"Wait a minute, why is your car parked in front of my company?" Su Ruowei, sitting in the back seat, suddenly realized.
"This?" Lin Fan had also forgotten about this and didn't know how to cover up this lie.
"Never mind." Su Ruowei hugged Lin Fan's waist from behind, pouting as she said, "I knew you were following me!"
"You're not allowed to follow me anymore!"
"Ah!" Lin Fan was filled with remorse, never expecting to slip up at the last moment!
The next second, Lin Fan felt two soft spots on his back, and a surge of blood rushed to his brain, making him restless and distracted.
"Just be by my side openly and honestly, my personal bodyguard."
