Chapter 29 Space Bracelet
Chapter 29 Space Bracelet
"This place doesn't exist in the game." That was the first thought that popped into my head when I saw the shop.
This is the first time I've seen this store. I'm very familiar with this place because I often come here when I play games, and I have a good memory, so I'm pretty sure.
But a strange feeling compelled me to enter the store.
Like before, it was an ordinary shop, filled with swords, bows, and the like. However, my eyes did not miss that small patch of dust and the seemingly overlooked weapons.
"This place is going out of business."
I immediately came to that conclusion. After all, a neglected shop, coupled with a bunch of signs of attack, meant that the shop was on the verge of closing down.
As I carefully selected the items, my gaze fell upon a sleek pistol in the glass case.
It's like any other gun I've seen on the market, yet different at the same time. Its craftsmanship is exquisite, and the design seems perfectly suited to me. I can feel a strange connection, as if the gun is calling to me. Perhaps it's the design, but even though it's just a pistol, it possesses a certain aesthetic appeal.
The pistol was entirely black, but it had some small engravings on it, although those engravings were also black.
Curious, I approached the shop owner, a middle-aged man with a tired expression. I gestured for him to unlock the glass display case. He was reading a book, looking exhausted, as if he wanted to leave as soon as possible.
He seemed surprised that someone was showing genuine interest in the gun.
“Ah, this gun is quite special, sir. Not many people appreciate its value,” he said, his voice tinged with nostalgia.
I picked up the gun and tested its weight and grip. It felt natural in my hand. "What's the story behind this gun?"
The shop owner sighed. "This is a custom-made gun, forged by the master blacksmith who used to run this shop. He poured his heart and soul into crafting this gun, but then... he disappeared."
"Missing?" I raised an eyebrow.
“Yes,” the shopkeeper continued, “He hung out with some bad guys. They wanted to exploit his talents. They forced him to make weapons for them, but when he refused, they threatened him, and then he vanished without a trace, leaving me all alone here.”
"Are you closing the shop now?" I asked, gently putting the gun back into the case.
The shop owner nodded sadly. "Yes, I couldn't take the pressure anymore. They kept coming back, demanding I tell them where he was, but I didn't actually know. They never believed me, so they always used this shop to threaten me. Now that he's gone, I don't care anymore."
Looking at the scars on his arms, I could tell he had been attacked many times. He was constantly on edge, and his posture was frightening. I could also sense the sadness in the shop owner's words.
Nevertheless, I felt nothing. I never cared about an ordinary person; I was just there to grab a weapon and leave, nothing more. Now this opportunity just happened to come my way; after all, it's easy to fool someone who's constantly on edge.
“I want the gun,” I said, pointing to it. “I will let this gun carry on his legacy,” I added sadly.
A flicker of gratitude crossed the shopkeeper's tired eyes. "Thank you, sir. I'm so glad this gun has found someone who understands its true value."
As he was about to close the deal, I noticed a stack of bullets on the counter. "How much for the gun and bullets?" I asked.
The shop owner paused for a moment, then sighed. "Considering the current situation and the fact that I have to close the shop, I'll sell both of these items to you for 10,000 valor."
Unsurprisingly, because he liked the way I spoke, he gave me a considerable discount. Compared to other guns displayed in the store, this gun was worth at least 10.
“Deal,” I said with a smile, then picked up my smartwatch and paid immediately. The transaction process here is slightly different. First, you deposit your currency as cryptocurrency, and then transfer it out.
The shopkeeper nodded, a mixture of relief and sorrow in his eyes. "Take good care of this gun, sir. It may just be a weapon, but it carries the hopes and dreams of its forger."
I assured him I would, and then left with the pistol and the bullets in my briefcase.
This was quite a haul. I thought to myself, looking at the gun in my hand. And the briefcase contained at least a thousand rounds of ammunition. To be honest, it was really heavy, but it also felt great. I asked him if he had any other weapons, but he said he couldn't sell me any others at a lower price.
And so, I had 3 yuan left in my account.
"Now, all I need to do is find the spatial artifact," I thought to myself. I came here not only for the weapons, but also for an artifact that would come in handy for our next mission.
But packing everything into a backpack isn't a good idea for a newbie. I know a place where you can find the magical artifact, the Space Bracelet.
And so I walked toward a less crowded, secluded spot. This place, once bustling with weapon shops and merchants, was now piled high with discarded trash and forgotten treasures. It was a place where items deemed worthless or defective were thrown away.
Based on my knowledge gained from the game, I know that hidden among this trash is a neglected or deemed useless space bracelet. Typically, most artifacts are found to have defects by searching for specific types of robotic vacuum cleaners.
But that spatial artifact was overlooked. It possesses a unique ability: it can never be discovered. I don't know its origins, and the game doesn't reveal any information about it, but it is one of the most damaged artifacts.
It allows you to bring special weapons into the academy undetected. However, finding it is quite difficult, no less so than finding Easter eggs in the library...
And so, I entered the junkyard and began making bracelets.
'Jingle bells'
As I sifted through a pile of junk, my eyes scanned each item carefully, searching for any clues to hidden treasure. But most of what I found was junk: broken weapons, scratched trinkets, and worthless old ornaments.
'tap tap tap'
But just then, my eyes caught a glimmer of light hidden beneath a pile of rusty metal. I carefully reached in and pulled out a faded little bracelet. It looked like a worthless piece of scrap, but I knew its value.
I held the bracelet in my hand and activated my magic to examine it further. Just as I had guessed, this was the spatial bracelet hidden among the junk.
"Finally found it," I muttered to myself.
Not only did I obtain the artifact I had been searching for, but I also bought a weapon at a low price.
I put the spatial bracelet on my wrist and quickly activated it. The bag on my back immediately disappeared and entered the bracelet.
"That's really good."
I also like its design, with its dark color and silver stripe decorations.
I was pleased with the newly discovered spatial bracelet. However, before leaving, I noticed several throwing knives buried beneath the sword. Although they weren't of high quality, I decided to take them with me.
"Maybe I'll need them someday."
And so, I left the junkyard and continued wandering the black market. After that, I bought an emergency rope, a belt that I might need, a bunch of special waterproof clothing, and a bunch of materials.
I'm also looking for the person I'm looking for, but I've learned that he hasn't shown up yet. I don't know when he'll arrive, so I decided to leave my ID with the staff so they can notify me when he comes.
Of course, I didn't forget to give him some money.
In short, my exploration of the black market has come to an end, but that doesn't mean my work is done.
This is just the beginning.
Tomorrow is the day I step into my first dungeon. Before that, I'll need a broker to help me sell the monster cores and corpses I'll be acquiring. But that's not a big problem. There are plenty of hunters who dislike being tracked or have criminal records who need those items too.
In response to this situation, the black market offers a service.
Dungeon exploration, special informants, and broker services. Also known as hunter agents, hunter managers, or other similar roles.
"[Savages]" is the name of this organization. Essentially, the term refers to those seeking such services, but in the game, they use it to refer to an organization that searches for dungeons.
This will be my destination tomorrow, and I'm exhausted. I've been traveling non-stop for almost four hours, plus the time spent on the train and walking, so I need to find a place to rest. I picked up a book I borrowed from the library and started reading until I fell asleep...
