Chapter 110 Game 1
Chapter 110 Game 1
Aeris turned the rockery in the "DA Cabin" into a stone dragon, restoring the shape of the Hungarian tree peak one to one, so that Cedric could practice and get the feel for it.
Let Hermione and Ron help Harry practice the Spell of Flying; Aeris began to help Draco practice the Disillusionment Charm and the Dragon Hypnotic Charm.
A day passed by unknowingly, and it was not until dinner time that several people left the "DA Hut" dragging their tired bodies.
With the help of the Stone Hungarian Treecrest Dragon, Cedric was able to handle the situation with ease; Harry also quickly mastered the Spell of the Swarm; and Draco also learned the Disillusionment Charm and the Dragon Hypnotic Charm.
"The content of the game is just your guess, Grindelwald," Draco said on the way to the Great Hall, "If you guess wrong, then we have trained for nothing, right?"
"How could the training be in vain?" Aeris said, "You learned the Disillusionment Charm; Harry mastered the Spell of Invisibility; Cedric gained experience in dealing with dragons. Only by overcoming our fear can we exert our due abilities. In the final analysis, we are afraid of dragons only because we think dragons are scary..."
"But you can't deny that dragons are scary," Ron said suddenly.
Aeris shrugged his shoulders and did not refute.
There was nothing special about Monday, except that everyone would go to the "DA Hut" in their spare time to simulate a competition with the stone dragon.
It was Tuesday morning. Today was November 24th, the time for the first game of the Triwizard Tournament. The whole Hogwarts was shrouded in an atmosphere of excitement and tension.
At noon, the school announced that classes would be suspended in the afternoon. The atmosphere in the auditorium was much more lively than usual today, and the students were chattering about the Triwizard Tournament.
Hermione was speechless as she looked at Edwards who was eating heartily, and then looked at Harry who hadn't touched the food on the plate in front of him. She suddenly had a breakdown and kept hitting Edwards' arm with the book in her hand.
"Can't you be a little nervous?" Hermione said angrily, "You might die. If something happens to you, you let me...what should we do?"
"Don't worry, Hermione," said Aris. "How can I have the strength to fight a dragon if I'm not well fed and watered? You should eat something too, Harry. Flying is also a strenuous task."
Harry forced a smile. At this moment, Professor McGonagall strode over and said, "Mr. Grindelwald, Mr. Potter, follow me. The first event is about to begin. The warriors must go to the venue below." Professor McGonagall said, feeling a little anxious.
Aeris and Harry stood up and followed Professor McGonagall out of the hall. "Good luck to you," Hermione said loudly, "You will succeed..."
"Don't be nervous, both of you," Professor McGonagall said as they walked out of the castle and towards the edge of the Forbidden Forest. "Stay calm and use your abilities to the best of your ability. You are no worse than anyone else. We have arranged some wizards to protect you. If things get bad, they will immediately come forward to control the situation and try to avoid any accidents for you."
Professor McGonagall took Aeris and Harry to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where a tent appeared.
"You will wait in the tent with the other warriors," said Professor McGonagall, her voice trembling a little. "Mr. Bagman will teach you what to do. Well, good luck to you..." After saying this, Professor McGonagall gently patted Aris and Harry on the shoulders.
"Thank you~" said Aeris.
Harry also quickly said: "Thank you..."
Aeris and Harry entered the tent. Fleur sat in a corner, her face pale and her body trembling slightly. Viktor's expression became even gloomier. Cedric kept pacing. Draco waved at Aeris and Harry.
Aeris and Harry sat on either side of Draco. "It looks like our warriors are all here," Mr. Bagman said cheerfully. "Everyone, relax and make yourself at home."
Facing everyone's strange looks, Mr. Bagman was not embarrassed at all and continued, "The specific content of your first game is: seize the golden egg. You have to find a way to get through the guard's blockade and snatch the golden egg it is protecting. You will draw the type of guard later."
Mr. Bagman shook the purple silk bag in his hand. "Here are the models of the guards you will be dealing with. They are all different… oh… types…"
Seeing everyone nod, Mr. Bagman stopped talking and rubbed his hands expectantly.
After a while, there were chaotic footsteps outside the tent, as well as bustling discussions and laughter, and the audience began to enter.
Mr. Bagman untied the silk bag. "Ladies first, then," said Mr. Bagman. "Miss Delacour..." He handed the silk bag to Fleur.
Furong reached into the silk bag with trembling fingers and pulled out a small, lifelike fire dragon model. There was a number tag on the dragon's neck: Number Two.
"Ah!" said Mr. Bagman delightedly. "The Welsh Green Dragon..."
Furong had a resigned expression.
The silk bag was handed to Victor, and what Victor took out was a Chinese fireball dragon, number: three.
Cedric pulled out a Swedish short-nosed dragon, and its entry number was: Four.
Harry took out the Hungarian Horntail Dragon, and its appearance number was: Number Five.
Draco took out the Norwegian Spinosaurus, and its appearance number was: number six.
What Eris took out was a Munich red-eyed black dragon, and its appearance number was: Number One. The fire dragon model bared its teeth at Eris and sprayed out a wisp of sparks.
"You have all received the models of the guards you will be dealing with," Mr. Bagman said. "Those number plates are the order in which you will appear. I will be leaving for now. I am the commentator. Um... Mr. Grindelwald, you will be the first to appear. Enter the field when you hear the whistle. Does anyone else have any questions?"
Seeing everyone was silent, Mr. Bagman continued, "Very good, then... Harry... I want to talk to you for a moment, can you please come out?"
Aeris and Draco both looked at Harry strangely, and Harry looked up blankly, stood up, and followed Mr. Bagman out of the tent.
"When did Potter become so familiar with Bagman?" Draco asked Aris.
Aeris shook his head and was about to say something when a whistle suddenly sounded. Aeris stood up, high-fived Draco, and walked towards the competition venue.
"Eris!" said Cedric. "Good luck to you!" He held out his hand, and Eris struck it with his, then walked straight into the arena.
Amidst the overwhelming applause and cheers, like waves, Eris passed through a passage formed by bushes and came to the edge of a huge open space.
There were tall stands surrounding the open space, and the students were cheering, shouting and clapping in the stands.
On the other side of the clearing was a gigantic fire dragon that was completely black. Its scales gleamed with metallic luster in the sun, and its eyes were like two giant rubies. It crouched low, guarding a nest of dragon eggs. One of the eggs emitted a brilliant golden light. The moment the black dragon saw Eris, it let out a deafening roar.
Aeris took a deep breath, waved the magic wand in his hand, and muttered something. Some stones on the playing field quickly grew larger and turned into the shape of dragon eggs.
Aesius pointed his wand at the black dragon, and the dragon eggs transformed from stones rolled quickly towards the black dragon. The black dragon's attention was attracted by the fake dragon eggs. It seemed to be maternal instinct, or perhaps it was instinct, as it carefully put the fake dragon eggs into its own nest.
Aes turned more stones into fake dragon eggs, which rolled towards the black dragon from all directions.
Just when the black dragon was busy, a fake dragon egg grew two legs and two arms. When the black dragon was not paying attention, the fake dragon egg picked up the golden egg, flipped its short legs, and ran towards Aesop secretly all the way.
When Aesius got the golden egg unscathed, there were waves of cheers, shouts and applause that were louder than the last, which scared the black dragon who was still busy picking up fake dragon eggs on the field.
"Amazing, truly amazing," said Mr. Bagman. "Exquisite Transfiguration. I must say, this boy has a lot of brains."
At the entrance of the stadium, Professor McGonagall was waving at Aries. Aries was holding the golden egg and walking towards Professor McGonagall. Professor McGonagall looked at Aries with pride in her eyes.
"Excellent, Mr. Grindelwald," Professor McGonagall praised, patting Aris on the shoulder. "The judges will give you a score based on your performance. Do you need to go to the first aid tent? Madam Pomfrey will check you out..."
"I don't think so, Professor McGonagall," said Aris, "I feel fine now..."
"Great! Aeris!" Hagrid also came over to congratulate him. He slapped Aeris's shoulder heavily with his rough big hand, causing Aeris to stagger.
"Thank you, Hagrid!" said Aeris, a mask of pain on his face. "I think I'll need Madam Pomfrey now, Professor McGonagall."
"Keep your energy down, Hagrid!" said Professor McGonagall dissatisfiedly, and Hagrid scratched his head in embarrassment.
Aries was holding the golden egg and wanted to find a place to watch the game between the other warriors. Hermione rushed over and threw herself into Aries' arms regardless of anything, knocking the golden egg to the ground.
Ron, who followed over, looked a little embarrassed. He picked up the golden egg and coughed a few times.
Hermione let go of Aeris with a blushing face. "Congratulations, Aeris, you succeeded, it's really great." Hermione said in a shrill voice. There were many nail marks on her cheeks, as if she had scratched them herself.
"Compared to the two of us, you are more like the dragon fighter." Aeris said with a smile.
Hermione rolled her eyes at Aeris and rubbed the scratches she had made on her face due to excessive nervousness.
"Cough! Cough! Cough!" Ron started to cough again. Hermione glared at him. "What are you doing?"
"It looks like they're going to grade it," Ron said darkly, "why don't you go and have a look, buddy?"
Hermione brought Aeris to a viewing area. In the referee's seat, the judges were discussing something.
"What a great start," Mr. Bagman's cheerful voice sounded. "The first match was exciting. I am looking forward to the performance of the other warriors. Now, please ask the judges to give Mr. Aeris Grindelwald a score."
Madame Maxime raised her wand, and a silver ribbon of smoke emerged from the tip of the wand, twisting into the number "9".
"Why isn't it a perfect score?" Hermione said indignantly, "You performed perfectly."
Aris didn't say anything because Mr. Crouch gave it a score of ten!
"Mr. Crouch is still fair." Ron patted Aris on the shoulder and said.
Professor Dumbledore also gave ten points, and the students cheered even louder.
Mr. Bagman gave nine points, and finally it was Headmaster Karkaroff's turn. He raised his wand reluctantly and gave Aeris six points.
"What kind of joke is this old goat?" Ron said angrily, "Why only give six points?"
The students who were watching the game also booed again and again to express their dissatisfaction.
"Very good, forty-four points!" said Aris.
The second person to come on stage was Furong. She was still trembling. The Welsh Green Dragon seemed to sense her fear and roared even louder.
Fleur used a sleeping spell, and the Welsh Green Dragon indeed began to fall into a drowsy state. Fleur felt that the time had come, and tiptoed to get the golden egg, but the Welsh Green Dragon snored, and flames spewed out of its nose, burning Fleur's skirt. Ron's eyes began to sparkle, as if he was expecting something.
Fleur frantically conjured up some clean water and put out the flames on her skirt. Ron felt lost, which made Hermione roll her eyes.
Furong successfully got the golden egg, and Aeris didn't pay attention to how many points she got.
Viktor was the third to come on stage. Facing the roaring Chinese Fireball Dragon, he waved his magic wand and hit the Chinese Fireball Dragon's eyes. The Chinese Fireball Dragon struggled in pain and crushed half of the dragon eggs in the nest, but Viktor successfully got the dragon eggs anyway.
The fourth person to come on stage was Cedric. He turned a large rock on the field into a huge hunting dog. The hunting dog attracted the attention of the Swedish short-nosed dragon. Cedric waved his wand and conjured up a fishing rod.
Cedric "fished" the golden egg like fishing, taking advantage of the Swedish short-nosed dragon's inattention, but he did not use a fish hook, but a small net.
Harry was the fifth to go on stage. He used a Summoning Charm to summon his Firebolt. Riding on the broom, Harry seemed like a different person. However, he had to deal with a Hungarian Horntail Dragon. His arm was scratched by the bone spurs on the dragon's body, which made Hermione scream again.
But Harry also successfully got the golden egg.
The sixth person to come on stage was Draco. He performed quite well. As soon as he came on stage, he used the Disillusionment Charm to hide his body. When the Norwegian Spinosaurus was not paying attention, he cast a hypnotic spell and made the Norwegian Spinosaurus fall asleep. He then enlarged a leaf and wrapped the golden egg with the leaf. Then he used the Flying Charm to make the leaf wrapped around the golden egg fly in front of him.
When the six warriors gathered in the tent again, Mr. Bagman said happily: "Well done, boys. Very good. I dare say this is the highest level of the Triwizard Tournament..."
Looking at the relieved warriors, Mr. Bagman continued, "The second task will start at 9:00 a.m. on February 24th next year. You have a long period of rest, but you can't just rest all the time. You all got the golden egg, which is the clue to the next game. Do you see the crack on the golden egg? Yes, the golden egg can be opened. Not here, Mr. Malfoy, you don't want to share your clues with others, do you?"
After stopping Draco, Mr. Bagman was visibly relieved and continued, "You can understand that the second game has begun. It first tests your reasoning ability. You have to solve the clues, otherwise your second game cannot continue. Does anyone have any questions? Very good! Go celebrate with your classmates!"
