Chapter 280 Trouble
Chapter 280 Trouble
First, it's Li Yuetian. "Li Yuetian, our homeroom teacher called me in today. There are some rumors circulating about us lately that aren't very good. To avoid any suspicion and trouble, you don't need to come to my house for tutoring this weekend or for the time being. Let's try to discuss issues at school in open spaces during breaks. Thank you for your help these past few days."
Then, she opened Yunyi's chat window, and this time the message was much more straightforward:
"Yunyi, stop running to the second year of high school so often, and stop bringing me things when there are a lot of people around. Your homeroom teacher talked to you, right? Be mindful of your behavior and don't cause me any trouble. You don't need to wait for me after school; I can walk home by myself. Also, keep the house quiet and don't knock on my door unnecessarily."
The two messages were sent, but they seemed to disappear without a trace. After a long while, Li Yue finally replied with a single word:
"it is good."
Brief, yet imbued with a heavy sense of loss. In contrast, Yun Yi's messages came like a machine gun:
"Sister Yueyue! I'm so sorry! It's all my fault! I've dragged you into this!"
"Don't be angry! I promise I won't run around like that again! As for the things... I'll secretly put them in your desk drawer, okay?"
"After school...can't we really walk together? It's not safe after dark!"
"Sister Yueyue... [looking pitiful.jpg]"
Lin Yue didn't reply. She simply put her phone on silent and listened to the sound of the legendary sword shattering. The world was finally a little quieter.
Over the next few days, Lin Yue clearly felt the "heat" around her decrease.
Li Yuetian still sat in front of her, but he turned around to explain problems much less often during breaks. Even when discussing problems, he deliberately kept his distance, speaking in a low voice only when there were other people around.
As expected, Yun Yi did not appear at the entrance of Class 3, Grade 11 again. When school ended, Lin Yue deliberately stayed a few minutes later to avoid him.
The malicious gossip seemed to have lessened somewhat due to the deliberate distance the person involved made. Although she could still occasionally sense probing glances, Lin Yue chose to ignore them. She thought it was fine this way; it saved her a lot of trouble.
However, the tree may wish to remain still, but the wind will not cease. Some people will not change their ways just because you give in.
It was Friday after school, and the sky was a bit overcast.
Lin Yue packed her schoolbag and, as usual, spent an extra ten minutes doing her homework at school. Once she figured most people had left, she leisurely walked out of the school building.
However, as soon as she reached the entrance of the relatively quiet alley behind the school, several girls in first-year high school uniforms and a young man with dyed yellow hair and a sleazy appearance blocked her way.
Lin Yue vaguely remembered the girl in the lead; she was Chen Lili, the leader of a recently infamous "delinquent" group at school. It was said that she came from a family with some connections and acted arrogantly and domineeringly.
Lin Yue vaguely remembered hearing someone mention that this Chen Lili... liked Yun Yi?
Chen Lili crossed her arms and looked Lin Yue up and down, her eyes filled with jealousy and resentment: "Oh, isn't this our 'famous' senior Lin Yue? How does it feel to be two-timing?"
Lin Yue paused, looking at her expressionlessly: "Move aside."
"Get out of the way? Why should I?" Chen Lili sneered, taking a step closer. "Aren't you so capable? You seduced the girl in our class and now you're seducing my Yun Yi? Let me tell you! That bitch Jiang Feifei has bodyguards, so I don't dare touch her. Who do you think you are? You think you can even dream of Yun Yi? Take a good look at yourself in the mirror!"
The girls behind her joined in the jeering, and the group of blond-haired thugs leered at Lin Yue with their vulgar eyes, chuckling, "Lily, why waste your breath on her? This kind of bitch deserves to be taught a lesson! Strip her naked so we can have some fun, take pictures and post them online, let's see how she pretends to be so high and mighty then!"
"Good idea!" Chen Lili grinned maliciously. "Lin Yue, don't you like seducing men? Today, I'll let you seduce as many as you want! Do it!"
At her command, the girls and the blond-haired thugs grinned and pounced on Lin Yue, reaching out to grab her clothes and hair.
"What a nuisance." Lin Yue's eyes instantly turned cold, like a frozen lake. She didn't even put down her schoolbag.
When the first girl rushed up and grabbed her hair, Lin Yue simply raised her hand to block it. The girl felt as if her wrist had hit an iron rod; a sharp pain shot through her, and she screamed as a tremendous force pulled her staggering and falling to the ground.
Another girl and the blond thug fell to the ground at the same time; one tried to hug her waist, and the other tried to grab her arm. Lin Yue shifted her feet slightly, her body sliding away at an incredible angle, while her right hand shot out with lightning speed, precisely catching the blond thug's outstretched wrist.
"Crack!"
A sickeningly crisp sound!
The blond thug didn't even see Lin Yue's movements clearly. He only felt an indescribable pain in his wrist. He was horrified to see that the hollow iron rod he had used to scare people was casually broken in two by Lin Yue with her other hand, just like snapping a dry tree branch!
"Ah—! My hand! My bone!" The blond thug screamed like a pig being slaughtered, clutching his wrist and collapsing to the ground.
The remaining two girls and Chen Lili were completely terrified; their sinister smiles froze on their faces, turning into extreme fear.
They watched as Lin Yue casually tossed away the two broken iron bars, her gaze sweeping over them indifferently, as if she were looking at a few ants that were getting in her way.
"You...you..." Chen Lili was so frightened that her legs went weak and she could barely speak.
Lin Yue didn't bother arguing with them and moved as fast as a ghost.
With a series of muffled thuds, the remaining two girls and Chen Lili didn't even have time to react before they felt heavy blows to their abdomens or the back of their necks. Their vision went black, and they collapsed to the ground like broken sacks, losing consciousness.
In just over ten seconds, the five men who had been so aggressive were now all lying on the ground, some groaning, others unconscious. Only Lin Yue remained standing quietly in the alley, her breathing perfectly steady.
She took out her phone, called the police with a blank expression, and then stood there like an emotionless statue, waiting for the police to come and deal with the trash.
By the time she finished giving her statement at the police station, it was completely dark. Lin Yue walked home alone, the dim streetlights casting long shadows of her.
After arriving home, when Yun Yi asked her questions, she made up a random excuse to brush him off and went back to her room.
She recalled everything that had happened that day, from the reprimand in the office to the ambush in the alley. The profanities, the malicious stares, and the thug's broken iron bar…
She wasn't afraid of these things; dealing with them was no more difficult for her than swatting a few mosquitoes. What bothered her was a slight... no, a great deal of annoyance, the root of all this trouble.
She finally began to seriously reflect on her behavior during this period. Had she really not paid attention to her limits?
Have I become too reliant on Li Yuetian's tutoring and tacitly allowed him to get too close to me?
Although I have no ulterior motives, in the eyes of others, are those frequent and close learning exchanges really easy to cause misunderstandings?
This was especially true for Yun Yi. They agreed to let him stay because of Sister Yun and Brother Yun, and also because they felt it didn't matter if the room was empty.
But she did overlook the fact that living under the same roof with a boy in his adolescence and indulging his clingy behavior was, in the eyes of outsiders, a perfect breeding ground for rumors.
Did you subconsciously lower your guard and boundaries because you thought of him as a "younger brother"?
Or perhaps, as the rumors suggest, they both have those kinds of feelings for her?
She used to be a loner, never caring what others thought. But now, because of her interactions with these two boys, trouble is piling up.
The homeroom teacher's reprimand, the malicious rumors, and even the retaliation from thugs outside the school...
"This is...utterly troublesome," Lin Yue muttered to herself, her delicate brows furrowing slightly. She wasn't afraid of trouble, but she hated dealing with these meaningless problems arising from interpersonal relationships.
It seems I really need to be more careful about my interactions with the opposite sex in the future. Especially with the one at home, I need to find a way to get him to move out as soon as possible.
She looked up at the light shining from her window and felt a slight, obvious impatience with this unexpected "tenant" for the first time, but she was helpless because she had agreed to let him move in.
