Chapter 532 is pulling
"Robbery!" the woman's cry was filled with panic and despair. Some of the onlookers were eager to try, but most stood still and watched, seemingly hesitant to act rashly.
Su Ming's first reaction was to keep his head down and ignore it. He was already in enough trouble and didn't want to cause any more trouble. However, he stopped dead in his tracks. The woman's terrified expression and her bewildered look flashed through his mind.
"Will intervening in this expose me?" he pondered. Reason told him it was best not to meddle in other people's affairs at this moment. After all, his situation was already complicated enough, and any additional action might lead to unnecessary trouble. But on the other hand, deep down, he felt an irresistible urge.
"Go after them." This thought finally prevailed. Su Ming knew that although he was no hero, he couldn't just stand by and watch.
He took a deep breath, adjusted his breathing quickly, and started to chase in the direction the robbers fled. His movements were swift and steady, and he soon passed through the crowd and entered the dim alley.
The alley was dimly lit, with only a few weak streetlights barely illuminating the ground. The robber's figure had almost disappeared at the end of the alley, but Su Ming didn't slow down. His eyes were fixed on the man's back, and the sound of his footsteps echoed in the alley.
"Stop!" Su Ming growled. Although his voice was not loud, it carried an undeniable authority. The robber seemed to have heard his shout and glanced back, his face showing a bit of panic.
Su Ming caught the other party's hesitation and his heart tightened: "He is evaluating whether I am a threat." At this time, any psychological victory or defeat may determine the success or failure of the pursuit.
The robber's pace suddenly quickened, trying to shake Su Ming off. However, his movements were somewhat clumsy, and he almost fell when turning a corner. Su Ming immediately realized that the other party might not be familiar with the area, which gave him more confidence.
"You can't get away," Su Ming muttered to himself, his pace not slowing down at all. His breathing became increasingly rapid, but his heartbeat remained steady. Years of training had enabled him to remain calm during the intense pursuit, which was the biggest difference between him and ordinary people.
The robbers eventually ran into an abandoned factory area, their footsteps echoing clearly in the empty space. Su Ming stopped at the factory door and scanned the surroundings, trying to find the robbers' hiding place.
"Come out! I know you're hiding here." Su Ming's voice was low and calm, carrying an undeniable strength. His hand quietly reached for the dagger at his waist, and he leaned forward slightly, ready to respond to any emergency.
There was no response from inside the factory, only the low whimpering sound of the wind. Su Ming's gaze fell on a pile of discarded iron barrels, where there seemed to be a faint hint of movement.
He quietly approached the iron barrel, his footsteps so light that they were almost inaudible. When he was only one step away from the barrel, the robber suddenly rushed out from behind, waving an iron rod in his hand and hitting Su Ming fiercely.
Su Ming was prepared, and he quickly dodged the blow by leaping backward. The iron rod hit the ground with a dull thud. Su Ming didn't give the other party a second chance to attack. He rushed forward, grabbed the robber's wrist, and twisted it hard.
"Ah!" the robber cried out in pain, and the iron rod fell to the ground. Su Ming took advantage of the situation and pushed him to the ground, pressing his knee into his back. He said coldly, "You have no way to escape."
The robber struggled a few times but soon gave up, his face pressed to the cold ground, breathing heavily and cursing.
Su Ming snatched the stolen bag from the man, stood up, and looked at the man on the ground coldly: "Don't do this kind of thing again in the future, otherwise you may not be so lucky next time."
With that, he turned and left the factory, heading towards the market. His heart was still beating fast, but his heart was surprisingly calm. He knew he wasn't chasing the robbers for so-called justice, but to prove one thing—that even in the most complex situations, he could still maintain his principles.
When he returned to the market, the woman who had been robbed was still standing there, looking around anxiously. Su Ming handed her the bag and said calmly, "I'm returning your things."
Su Ming left the factory, his heart still heavy. Although he had just rescued the woman, he felt no sense of relief. The image of the robber kept recurring in his mind, the man's panic and pained expression resonating with Su Ming. After all, everyone in life has their own story. Perhaps that person wasn't born evil, but was simply forced into this path.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. However, the uneasiness in his heart still lingered. Perhaps it was the robber's eager eyes, or perhaps it was his desperate attitude that made Su Ming feel a sense of familiarity—a sense of helplessness and confusion that he had experienced before.
"Who is he?" Su Ming asked himself silently, his pace involuntarily quickening. His eyes never left the shadows ahead, as if some secret was hidden there.
As he walked, Su Ming suddenly stopped. The robber reappeared in his sight. The man didn't seem to have gone far, but instead stopped at a corner, looking flustered as he adjusted his clothes. Su Ming didn't approach immediately, but stood there, observing his movements. He knew that a hasty approach at this moment could lead to an unexpected conflict.
"Is he trying to escape?" Su Ming's heart raced, and he glanced around sharply. The buildings lining the street made the place feel somewhat oppressive, their shadows blocking out almost all light, as if some hidden force was pulling him back.
He gritted his teeth and decided not to hesitate any longer. At this moment, he was no longer the calm observer, but the one who could not tolerate any injustice. He walked towards the robber, his steps firm and swift.
"Stop!" Su Ming shouted in a deep and powerful voice.
The robber turned sharply, a flash of panic in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. His gaze met Su Ming's, and the tension in the air suddenly thickened. In that instant, Su Ming could sense the man's inner struggle and uneasiness, as if he were weighing whether to continue fleeing or confront this seemingly non-threatening man.
"You...what else do you want?" The robber's voice was low and hoarse, with a hint of barely perceptible anger.
