Spy Wars: Strong Agents Who Are Ruthless and Talk Little

Chapter 415 Whispered Command

Chapter 415 Whispered Command

Every step was a gamble. Every turn was a potential trap. Even the slightest movement of air seemed to vaguely remind him that the crisis of this operation was quietly deepening.

They had just barely escaped a dangerous situation where they were being pursued by the enemy. The air was still filled with the smell of gunpowder and the sound of explosions in the distance continued to echo, but there was a dead silence before them. The dim streetlights illuminated the street, and shadows swayed on the walls like prying eyes, ready to pounce on them at any moment.

However, the mission is not over yet. Su Ming knows clearly that although the immediate danger has dissipated slightly, the real challenge still lies ahead.

"Stop ahead." Su Ming suddenly stopped and waved his hand, alerting his team. He had an inexplicable premonition that something was about to happen. Whenever this feeling emerged, it usually foreshadowed that the subsequent action would be extremely dangerous, and could even change the entire situation.

He narrowed his eyes slightly and looked ahead. Near the shabby warehouse not far away, he could vaguely see several figures moving in the darkness. These were not enemy patrols, but another group of unidentified individuals.

"Attention, something's wrong here." Su Ming lowered his voice and quietly pointed at the figures, "Let's retreat first and see what's going on."

Lin Tao continued to follow closely behind, but his steps were noticeably more uneasy than before. Su Ming knew that Lin Tao was not a timid person; his nervousness stemmed from a sense of insecurity, a spreading feeling that was making the atmosphere of the entire team tense.

They quietly retreated a few steps, hiding behind an abandoned billboard. The shadows here almost completely swallowed their figures. The team members held their breath and stared in tacit understanding, their eyes fixed firmly on the front.

"What do they do?" Team member Xiao Zhang asked in a low voice, his voice almost disappearing in the air. Everyone knew that this situation usually meant that the "passersby" were not just "passing by", but might be some unknown organization or transaction.

"Let's observe first." Su Ming responded in a low voice. He did not give a direct answer, but continued to stare at those unidentified people.

After a few minutes, the men slowly approached the warehouse, seemingly carrying a batch of supplies. Their movements were swift and cautious. Based on their behavior, Su Ming judged that they were likely carrying out a mission, but he couldn't fully predict what it was.

The team members exchanged glances, understanding that this was no longer a simple matter of waiting for the right moment; it was a crucial moment for action. If the supplies these people were carrying were useful to them, it would mean they had a chance to seize a batch of key resources, greatly increasing the likelihood of completing the mission.

"Let's get closer." Su Ming whispered instructions without any hesitation, because he knew that such an opportunity might only come once in a lifetime.

The team members approached silently, their heartbeats blending seamlessly with the surroundings, their movements silent. With every step, they were careful, ensuring not even the slightest noise. Su Ming felt a touch of nervousness, but more of an eager anticipation. They had come too far and could no longer tolerate any failure. Behind every action was a risky decision, and every choice could be the deciding factor in whether they could ultimately complete the mission.

"Get ready," Su Ming whispered again, his eyes scanning the expressions of each team member. Lin Tao still looked nervous, but his gaze was determined, clearly determined to give it his all. Zheng Yaoxian, standing at the end of the team, still didn't respond to Su Ming's question, as if he had completely hidden his emotions, but his slightly trembling hands betrayed his current state of mind.

Under Su Ming's guidance, the team members quietly approached the unidentified group and gradually approached the place where they hid their supplies. The warehouse in front of them was surrounded by a few pieces of iron sheets and wooden boards. It looked very derelict from the front, but they knew that it held a secret.

"Lin Tao, go explore the way." Su Ming ordered in a low voice.

Lin Tao hesitated for a moment, nodded, and quickly walked towards a nearby gap. He disappeared into the shadows, leaving almost no trace. Su Ming stared at Lin Tao's figure, his heart tightening. Although this young man had experienced several actual combats, he still seemed a little rusty compared to the veteran team members.

"There's movement." Zheng Yaoxian suddenly spoke, his voice low but full of alertness.

Su Ming spun around, his eyes scanning his surroundings. The door to the distant warehouse seemed to have been pulled open, and several unidentified individuals entered. Another person carefully stuffed a black cloth bag into the crack of the doorway. The bag's shape was odd, clearly not an ordinary supply.

"What is that?" Su Ming frowned and muttered to himself.

Lin Tao quickly returned to the team, his expression becoming even more serious. "There is indeed a batch of new supplies inside, but I didn't see clearly what was inside the bags. It seems that the contents don't look like ordinary food or equipment."

"Is it a weapon?" Su Ming asked in a low voice.

Lin Tao didn't answer immediately, but nodded slightly: "I didn't dare get too close, but at least I can confirm that there are more than just ordinary supplies inside. There may be other things we haven't seen yet."

"Okay." Su Ming nodded and took a deep breath. "We must get those supplies. No matter what they are, we can't let the enemy get them easily."

Su Ming made a quick decision. The current situation was clearly fraught with uncertainty, but his intuition told him that these supplies must not be allowed into the hands of the enemy. Perhaps these seemingly insignificant supplies were the key to completing the mission, or even to their survival.

"Split up," he whispered, a hint of determination in his voice. "Zheng Yao and I will go around to the back of the warehouse first. Lin Tao, you go find an opportunity to sneak in."

The air remained heavy, and as the mission progressed, Su Ming's heart grew heavier. While the supplies in the warehouse appeared to be ordinary cargo, he knew the enemy would never transport them so carefully for a few grains or weapons. His intuition told him that something more complex lay hidden, and if they fell into the enemy's hands, it would have a profound impact on the entire situation.

But now, he had to make a choice. Su Ming cast his gaze toward the distant horizon. Dusk had already enveloped the surroundings, and a thin mist began to fill the streets, blurring his vision. The team members moved more cautiously, their nerves tense, not daring to make a sound.

He knew that even though the enemy near the warehouse remained unaware of their presence, time was not on their side. Every second of delay could allow the enemy to complete some unknown preparation, perhaps even evacuate, obliterate their tracks, or... for reinforcements to arrive.

"We need to change locations." Su Ming's eyes flashed with determination. His tone was low, but it was filled with unquestionable determination. "Let's go around the suburbs and patrol to make sure there are no ambushes around."

He didn't wait for his team's response, turning quickly and making a decision. Although the situation was tense, the open area outside the city could provide them with more opportunities. Moreover, according to the plan, the enemy's movements were no longer fully predictable, and they couldn't rashly continue to advance without any guarantees.

The team members agreed, quickly gathering their equipment and following him in unison. A hint of fatigue etched itself across everyone's face, but none of them showed it. Every operation, every mission, held a hidden pressure. Even Lin Tao remained silent. Though still nervous, his heart seemed filled with trust in Su Ming. The young team member's steps were no longer as hesitant as they had been at the beginning, but he gradually regained his decisiveness.

As they crossed the last stretch of city streets and finally reached the outskirts, the atmosphere felt different. There was no city noise or chaos, only the stillness of the night and the growing sound of the wind. Occasionally, a bird could be heard chirping by the roadside, and the grass rustled in the distance, but everything seemed remarkably quiet.

Su Ming paused, took a deep breath of the increasingly cool air, and scanned his surroundings. He felt his body unconsciously relax, the tension and pressure he'd been holding for so long finally releasing a little. The suburbs were now shrouded in white mist, and the moonlight cast a faint shadow, casting a veil of mystery over the surroundings. Nights like these often lead one to let down their guard, believing everything to be normal. But Su Ming knew that such an illusion was fatal.

"Stay alert and keep moving forward." He whispered the order, his tone still serious. Although there were no enemies in front of him, he could not allow any slackness.

They advanced quietly along a path, their pace slow but steady, each one preoccupied with different matters, but always keeping their mission in mind.

Su Ming's thoughts raced like a rapidly spinning gear, splitting off in countless directions. He hadn't forgotten Zheng Yaoxian's strangeness, nor had he forgotten the mystery of the warehouse. These tiny details were like puzzle pieces; though seemingly fragmented and incomplete, they hinted at the underlying mysteries.

He recalled Zheng Yaoxian's uneasy expression, the hesitation and repression he had felt during their brief conversation. That emotion wasn't the calm and decisiveness he'd always displayed, but rather a fragility that couldn't be ignored. Su Ming felt a surge of irritation. He knew he couldn't ignore the mental state of his team members simply because of the mission. If Zheng Yaoxian continued to suppress his emotions like this, he would explode at some point, and that would very likely affect the entire team's operations.
